What is a Food Host
Food Hosts are part of what makes the CERES Fair Food distribution system unique. Food Hosts are community minded folk – individuals, businesses or organisations – that provide a safe location for us to drop off your food box and keep it safe until you arrive to collect it. Your most convenient Food Host may be close to your home, place of work, or even on a regular route you travel. Food Hosts will be open for 2-4 hours on the day of your food delivery, usually in the evening. The point of all this? Our organic food delivery service is all about reducing food miles, connecting you to the farmers who grow your food and like-minded people in your neighbourhood.
We will be rolling out new Food Host pick-up points as demand increases. To stay in the loop and to know when we open new Food Hosts, feel free to sign up to our newsletter, or follow us on Facebook.
Alternatively, if you don’t currently have a convenient pick up point, you may wish to try our carbon neutral home delivery service, which runs between 1-7pm on Wednesdays. Check where we deliver here.
Becoming a Food Host
Food Hosts get to be a part of a national movement that really makes a difference and will challenge the current conventional food system. We are interested in people who are passionate about local, healthy food and supporting the farmers who produce it. In return we offer reduced cost food boxes (25% off your box) and all the support you will need.
If you or your workplace are interested in potentially becoming a Food Host and have a safe location for us to regularly drop-off our food boxes, then we’d love to hear from you! Feel free to email us at foodhosts@ceresfairfood.org.au
