What is CERES Environment Park?

Ceres excursion (4)

In 1982 from the passion and commitment of the local community CERES (pronounced ‘series’) was born on the banks of the Merri Creek – a 10 acre ex-tip site transformed into an organic farm, community garden, environmental demonstration centre and kids playground. Today CERES runs extensive environmental and cultural education programs for children and adults, with approx 1 million people visiting the park, learning in affiliated schools or interacting online.

CERES is recognised as an international leader in community and environmental practice and has won many awards including the United Nations Australia World Environment Day Award and Victorian Environmental Educator of the Year. It proudly maintains its financial and political independence through 15 social enterprises including a cafe, nursery, grocery, workshops and venue hire.

All profits generated by CERES Fair Food contribute to helping CERES deliver planet saving education.
And we are not alone – The CERES Nursery, The Merri Table, Tamil Feasts, and their Organic Grocery are all social enterprises that support CERES’ work. Find out all about them here.
